  Salzburg!

A day and a half in my favorite city was not enough, but I enjoyed every minute!

Our hotel was in the New Town (a relative term, to be sure), on the east side of the Salzach River, which made it convenient to take an early-morning hike up the Kapuzinerberg for the photo above.

Two routes up the Kapuzinerberg: from Linzergasse and Steingasse.

And the best place to fortify for the climb: Coffee Press at Bergstrasse 10 between Dreifaltigkeitgasse (don't you love German names??) and Linzergasse.

The friendly guy who made my coffee was from Texas!

The gardens of Schloss Mirabell are beautiful on their own, but also provide a nicely framed view of the fortress Hohensalzburg.

Live music is everywhere in the city of Mozart. This woman, who was part of a quartet, had finished playing at the north end of the garden and was on her way to set up at the south end.
